while we’re prepping the movie release, im doing pattern recognition in the back of my brain and theres one thing on my mind

shame

shame is a tactic used against women by women

for men, it’s competence. discipline. u are held to a standard. it is your Duty to solve the problem.

but for women, it’s shame. shamed into this. shamed into that. made to feel bad.

i really struggled with this growing up (im still growing up) id ask the girls i know. why are u doing that when u hate it? they wouldnt ever fully understand “why”. theyd ALWAYS give me contradictory answers. no clear reasoning

it never made sense. to this day, ive never gotten a straight answer from a woman on so many of these things.

fashion & makeup are pertinent ones. all normal women indulge in certain kinds of fashion to protect themselves from shame - 1. for 2, they derive satisfaction from securing shame prevention - call it fitting in.

so now im thinking single mums is shame the single most powerful mechanism to stop woman from abandoning child?

it’s good (like really really good) to see realistic modern black men actually talking the way i talk with people about real life things. brothers who’ve known each other for decades shuttling off perspectives. because ive a lot of conversations with people, a lot of girls, and guys too, who only parrot the stupid and the negative things, and i know we’re in a huge cultural shift where in the next 10 years the nuclear family and what we deem traditional relationships and families will be completely renewed, and i just wonder what this new paradigm will look like.
